CABADIANGAN LAKE: Manmade yet Awesome
Cabadiangan Lake used to be unknown. Long before, it was not lake at all. It was just a swamp or marsh. The Small Water Impounding Project (SWIP) of National Irrigation Authority (NIA) made this lovely body of water. This manmade lake supplies water to farms and fields nearby.
This 10-hectare manmade lake is 2 kilometers away from Barangay Cabadiangan proper. The sticky, muddy road is very challenging especially during rainy days. Within the lake, a fishing project is also established by the community.
The area is like a park and picnic site to locals and those who discovered it. It is open for swimming and boating. One lovely features of it is the small soil bar resembling to a peninsula.
HOW TO GET THERE: Rural Transit Mindanao (RTM) buses ply from CDO direct to Kadingilan. Other RTM units and other local bus lines ply to Kadingilan from Valencia City or Don Carlos. From Poblacion, Kadingilan, take a habal-habal direct to the site passing by barangay proper of Cabadiangan. Habalhabal fare is P100.00 per pax.
My driver and guide was Richard dela Peña. Contact him at 09551863657.
NOTE: To date, there is no entrance fee to the site. As courtesy, during your visit, please ask permission from the SWIP caretaker at the house beside the lake. And please, practice LEAVE NO TRACE POLICY...
