SAN MIGUEL PEAK: The Magnificent Tower of Sisiman Bay

San Miguel Peak is a stunning rock mountain at Sisiman Bay in Sisiman, Mariveles, Bataan. The peak is around 700 feet high and reaching its summit requires 20-minute trekking. Rock climbing and rappelling have been conducted in the area since it has portions with pure drop. The view of Sisiman Bay is more magnificent from the summit. Hopping from rock to rock is also an awesome adventure for hikers. Some overnight campers pitch their tents at mountain's base. Some visitors spend the night at the local cottages along the pebble beach. To beach visitors, hiking to the summit is just a bonus. But my trip to Bataan was intended to summit the peak, beach is a bonus.

When I alighted from a tricycle at crossing Sisiman Bay, excitement filled my system. I hiked to where the locals instructed me. As I moved further, a rock mountain amazed me. As I approached closer to it, my excitement intensified and I fell in love to it in an instant. I couldn't help but wonder at its magnificent view. The serene, less crowded shore made it more alluring.

After witnessing the lovely sunset by the bay, I rested my head at very small, rustic cottage along the beach.

The next morning, I woke up as early as the sun to catch early hues. I hiked alone to the summit following the fading trail. Losing way is so normal for me. I crossed sharp grass blades to keep on track.

Midway, the view of the bay soothed my eyes. Boats, shore, mountains, factories and lighthouse make the imagery of Bataan.

Nearing the summit, earlier mountaineers blocked my way. I stayed there for long until they cleared my way.

Reaching the summit was so overwhelming. The marvelous 360-view anointed me King of the World.

After a short trek, I recharged myself with a typical Pinoy meal, explored the area further and claimed my cool dip bonus.

HOW TO GET THERE:

From Pasay, go to MRT station. Take a short walk to Genesis Bus Terminal. Take a direct ride to Mariveles (you may also take Balanga and take another bus to Mariveles). Entering Mariveles, alight at BASECO building. In front, take a tricycle to Sisiman (P15 each for multiple pax and P50 for solo pax). Drop off at Crossing Sisiman Bay. Take a short walk to the bay.

    3. Hi, Ryan. Here's my contact at the area. Nanay Delia (president of cottage owners association) - 09375865211. Their cottages are so simple and rustic. Hopefully, her number is still active.
There are also lodges near the area like Sisiman Bay Lodge etc. Sorry, i don't have their contact number.
Don't worry. The mountain's jump off is just 10 minutes walk away from barangay highway.

  12. Hi is it okay to take a PreNuptial Shots in the area? Where can we find someone to ask for a Permit or something (document) for us to ensure that no one will bother us during our shot. Or permission can be vocal? Thanks. Hoping for your reply

    1. I guess it's okay to do prenup shoot in there. I witnessed the same when i visited there. They're just like ordinary tourists roaming around looking for scenic locations. The place is wide enough so you can look for an isolated location for your shoot. Enjoy...
