SQUASH MOUNTAIN: Small and Beautiful

Squash mountain is named after a squash where its form resembles. The mountain, estimated to be 400 meter high, is situated among sugarcane and pineapple fields in Maraymaray, Don Carlos, Bukidnon. Being isolated from among its surrounding hills makes it a prominent view added its unique squash-like form.

The rough road going to the mountain is truly challenging when wet. From its base, the summit can be reached for about 20 minutes through its existing trail. Though it is not that high, the view of the lowlands and farms is wonderfully stunning from the summit.

The mountain is not a popular hiking site but during Holy Week, many Catholic and non-Catholic believers flock to its summit, which is wide enough and can be a good site for camping.

HOW TO GET THERE: From Don Carlos terminal, take a habalhabal direct to the base of Squash Mountain 2 kilometers past Brgy. Maraymaray proper. Fare is P75 per pax minimum of 2 pax per ride.

NOTE: The mountain is free of registration. Please coordinate with the locals if you wish to stay overnight. Observe LEAVE NO TRACE principles.
